Default So can you replace the pre-13 Nav HU or not?

Guys,

Very excited that I got my 2011 Raptor Screw last night. I've been hanging out here the last several weeks reading, searching, and trying to learn so I'd know just what I want to do to it when it arrives, and upgrading the speakers is a definite. I'd also like to replace the HU. I understand that for a long time the answer was with this HU factory installed you were SOL for replacements, but now I see a lot about Advent and then Maestro solutions that seem to work - but for the 13-14 models. I understood, again from reading and searching, that these folks were in even worse SOL condition prior, if that's possible. So it looks like they're close to at least an option or two, but I can't find anything definitive for my 2011 Raptor. Can I replace the Head Unit? I don't care about Sync at all, FWIW.

Thanks!

With enough $$ anything is possible, check in with a local audio shop, they would be the best advisors.

I have a 2011 XLT (non-Sony radio) and the Advents works perfect. Not sure about in a Raptor though.

Thanks. I realized the speakers are so bad I've got to start there, and I'm hoping to do the HU in August. The Advent looks nice.

I have Polk MM6501 in front and Polk db571 in the back. Infinity is also popular here. Check with adcmobile dot com for the Advent.

I've been looking at exactly that setup. Love Polk. I know the mids and highs will be great, but how's the bass compare to stock? I was about to research if the Metra 82-4200 adapter might pull the speaker forward enough to get 6x9s in.

Bass with just door speaker upgrade was decent but I wanted more so I added a 10" sub. Enough bottom end for my old ears.

Unless you want to go with a Nav HU why replace the factory unit. A good set of speakers and a quality amp will do wonders.

Yes always start with the speakers including the sub. You will be surprised with the change.

There are a lot of things I far prefer about the aftermarket HUs, but I'm trying to be a but controlled in how I attack my wants. Speakers now, light bars next, tonneau and steps, then HU I think.
