Thanx, which side of the wiring harness goes to the HU? I have not yet removed it, and would like to get the harness done before I start taking things apart. Or does anyone have a picture of the back of a stock HU?

Thanx for your help.

Sorry for the late reply. The thread subscription thing isn't working.

The side of the Alpine amp that has a fuse attaches to the factory wiring harness that disappears into the dash. The side without the fuse goes to the factory head unit. Make sure you attach the correct half of the adapter harness to the correct side of the Alpine amp.

Well I installed my amp today. Most of the install was as posted earlier. The only difference I found was that I had to connect the blue with white stripe trigger wire from the amp to the blue with red stripe wire in the harness. After I did that, it all worked. Easily fit behind the dash with lots of room to spare.

Overall my Meatloaf CD sound better with the amp, and it will sound even better once the small sub is installed later this week. It is not earth shattering by any means, but for an oldtimer like myself, it is more than adequate.

Another note, when I installed the harness, I ran leads for the trigger and speaker signals so they can be connected later to the sub that I will be installing. Will make the sub install that much easier.

Have a great day

Start from the sides, towards the back (closer to the firewall). Just start pulling. It pops off easily.

I posted a thread on this... on the wrong forum apparently. I'll cut and paste... watch this subforum for a new thread.

I got mine from a local vendor. The links I posted at the beginning of this thread might not be valid anymore. Maybe some of the more recent folks that did this have more current links.

i just joined this board because of this thread. It inspired me to do my own. I found the amp and harness local. I have it all wired up and ready to put in. One question though. On the blue white stripe connection to blue red stripe did you do both ends like all the other wires?
