So, since you've done this with the harness, how hard do you think it would be to just hard wire it? I was having so much trouble with the factory harness when I was trying to wire up my new head unit that I ended up just lopping it off and hardwiring the thing.

Also, I can't tell from the pictures, but does this little amp use standard aftermarket wiring colors or is it something specific to alpine?

that is not a connector. it is an inline fuse holder it looks like a green fuse so it would be a 30amp fuse.

Ya I thought it would be a fuse.

I should of been more clear, I meant which wire does it connect to. In the picture with the harness done, I can't see which wire the fuse is connected to.

Well I ordered the Alpine power pack and the wiring adapter today. It will be going in this weekednd I hope, with 6.5" Hertz components out front with the tweeter installed in the A-pillar, and 5X7" Polk DB's in the rear doors. I'll let you guys know how it sounds. Since I already had the 6.5"components, the $370 i payed for everything else and shipping is relatively cheap in the car audio game, hope it's ok quality.

Great job and choice , on the AMP . I did a similar install of the KTP 445, ON MY 02 XLT 4X4 SC. I didn't need to splice any wires (harness) using an Alpine CD-105 Head, pushing Kenwood 9386's in frt and Alpine SPR 57's in rear drs. Sounds mint , with a lot of dynamat to kill road noise. ROCK ON !

Just wondering if you did this? I'm about to do it myself but I was wondering which wire the fuse holder is connected to.

Hey KBS, I found what you are looking for... its in the original post . Easy to miss if your readint it too fast.. I had to go back and check as i thought he mentioned 3 wires..lol

Its the wire that goes to an "Always hot" terminal.. for constant power. Dont now why though, maybe some sort of memory thing?? Hope this helps!

The piece KBS circled is an inline fuse. It's not a connector that needs to get plugged anywhere. It has a cap and a fuse inside. I could've taken it off since the power line I tapped into was fused already. But it was easier to leave it in.

There are several posts on this forum and others that list what color wires go to the four speakers. I didn't want to reiterate them here.
Find the eight speaker wires and attach them to the same color wires on both ends of the adapter harness. Then, black goes to black. Yellow goes to yellow. Red goes to Orange.

Just remember it's a pass-through device. Cut the add-on wiring harness in two. The factory wiring harness from the truck that normally goes into the back of your factory radio will now go into one end of the wiring harness. The wires from that end will attach to one bundle of wires of the Alpine amp. The bundle of wires on the other end of the amp will attach to the other end of the add-on wiring harness. This will then plug into the back of your factory radio.

Great job and thanx for sharing the info. Two questions, did you have to run a dedicated power line for the amp or did you just use the same power going to the HU? And how did you deal with the remote turn on for the amp?

I am considering installing the same amp, or one that is slightly bigger, just need to make sure it will fit.
