Default Slight sound problem with aftermarket sub.

So I have everything wired up and good to go.

When listening to my sub, it sounds ok but for the most part wont hit the notes properly. However when I change from center on the Left to Right crossover on the stock headunit it hits properly and much harder when I am either all the way to the right sound channel or vice versa with the left sound channel.

It's almost as if when I put it back to center the 2 channels attempt to cancel the bass. I checked all my wiring it and it appears as though everything matches up with positive and negative from the speaker channels.

How do you have it wired? Using PAC? single or multiple amps? Sony or basic system? Please explain your installation in detail.

Thanks!

I have this amplifier.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Alpine+-...&skuId=8699358

And this box and subwoofer.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Pioneer+...&skuId=2994279

Except I upgraded the Pioneer Subwoofer up to the shallow mount that handles 300 W RMS and 1200 Peak.

Anyways, its all wired up how you would wire any subwoofer. I taped into the speaker wires and ran speaker lines into the amplifier.

Sounds like you have the + and - wrong going to the amp inputs. Try swapping them. But I would use a PAC and run RCAs to the amp

What are the benefits with RCA over speaker inputs?

Using the PAC and RCA you do not have to cut/splice speaker wires or worry about reversing speaker polarity. Very simple install.

Which PAC adapter do you recommend for just connection a sub and amp?

Thanks!

PAC AOEM FRD24. It is PNP install and has 2 RCA ouputs but only need one set for a sub amp. I installed and ran 2 RCA sets just in case installed a 4-channel amp later.

Or use Y adapters on both the sets of RCAs. Then you don't have to worry about the sub sound if you fade from front to back.
