I have a 2012 F150 XLT. The stereo came with Sirius radio built in, but I bought a SiriusXM Onyx Plus "plug and play" receiver and an extra vehicle kit, so I can enjoy satellite radio in both of my cars without having to pay for two separate subscriptions.

I'm interested in everyone's installation ideas. If you have the same setup and you came up with a creative way of installing it, would you please share your ideas, and post pictures.

One thing I would like to do is use an adapter, (such as the http://www.crutchfield.com/p_794ANTS...stro-SAT1.html) to utilize the factory Sirius antenna that is mounted permanently on the roof, instead of the magnet mount antenna that came with the receiver.

I just bought a 2017 F150 XL, reg cab, with the basic sync system and no satellite radio. The car I traded in had a SiriusXM subscription. When I called to cancel that subscription, the lady offered me a free Onyx kit.

I was looking at the pictures on their site, and it looks like the Vehicle kit comes with an output that will plug into a standard aux in port. 1/8 inch or 3.5 mm, whatever.

Looking around on my truck, I see no aux in ports. And only one USB port. Are there other input connectors that I just haven't found? And are there other options for connecting the Onyx to the factory head unit?

I'm also interested in any other opinions about mounting the Onyx.

All that does is use your usb port for a signal. For that price I would start looking at aftermarket. You can do do that for almost what they want for this unit

I had a stand alone Sirius unit in my Xterra. It plugged into the 12V outlet. To hide the wires, I disassembled the 12V adapter, ran the wires and 12V adapter circuit board behind the dash. I then hard-wired the adapter behind the 12V plug and encased it in a plastic box and sealed the holes with RTV

For a lot less you can find the OEM ACM Radio unit for F150 15-17 with sirius connection and just replace your unit. I added one to my XL and it works fine. You can also user the ACM from other Ford models like the Fusion as long as you dont have the auto start/stop feature.
