Default Sirius Radio

I was just wondering if you switch over to an after market radio with satellite radio build in (avicz120bt), would it be a straight plug and play with the stock sirius radio built in our f150s? or would i have to get some sort of module for it to work?

The Sirius tuner is built into the factory radio. When the radio goes, so doe the Sirius. you might be able to use the antenna.

The tuner is actually external, but it still isn't compatible with an aftermarket set up. You'll need to buy the Pioneer module/kit that matches the HU you go with.

It isn't external on the 2010. The SAT antenna plugs into the back of the radio box. Antenna has to plug into the tuner in a SAT system.

By satelite radio ready doesnt mean its built in. It only means with an about $150 extra worth of modules you can run satelite radio through your nav radio. I have a Avic-U310BT and i had to purchase the Pioneer satelite radio tuner and another module. I got them used so I saved lik 50 bucks. But without those no dice on the satelite radio. I hate the false advertising with satelite radio ready. Its not.

I replaced the HU in my 2009 FX4. I replaced it with a Pioneer. This is what you need to install to keep Sirius. The existing Sirius antenna can be reused.

It is a Sirius tuner and interface to the new head unit. Without this, the new radio will not be able to play Sirius radio. It replaces the Sirius tuner in the factory head unit. The interface and tuner requirements are different for each manufacturer. Reasearch is required.
