Default Sirius Adapter

F150 with factory Sirius

I've done what searches I can and have found out I can reuse the factory sat antenna with an aftermarket head unit. I know the Sat tuner is behind the glovebox and I am trying to find out if there is an adapter cable that would make it possible to reuse the factory tuner as well with a new aftermarket headunit. Any ideas?

If your Sirius tuner is in fact a seperate unit you can use one of the newer Kenwood units and an i-datalink Maestro ADS-RR which will allow you to use the OEM Sirius tuner.

I don't know what year truck you have, the sat tuner in my 2012 F150 is part of the main factory radio. I just ordered a complete set up today and had to get an aftermarket sat tuner to go with it.

The antenna have a standard plug end that can be used by any receiver. Its the same for sirius and xm, at least the new stuff.
I looked behind my glovebox, it has a female end.

I would think the factory Sirius receiver would only work with a factory head unit.

I found that the factory antenna would loose the signal often. I'm using a aftermarket antenna now.

I always thought the factory SAT tuner was integrated into the main radio. But yes you can use the factory antenna with any tuner. If you are using an XM tuner just pry off the yellow plastic piece at the end of the cable and it will fit.

Starting to look like I will have to buy a sat tuner to match whatever HU I buy.
