should I follow instructions
I really would like to mount my amps vertically on the back wall of my reg cab, however the manual says to only mount horizontally which is really annoying me trying to get a clean look. So why do they insist they are mounted horizontally? Do people ignore this ever?

I want to build this http://www.f150online.com/forums/200...-pictures.html looks awesome, I will center my 12" sub with an amp mounted on each side I would like to mount on the back wall but may follow instructions, and mount horizontally on the built floor on each side.

The reason is typically cooling. Heat exchange for some designs is less effective in certain positions. At least that's my theory.
Does the amp have an internal fan?
How hard are you going to drive the amps? Do you live in hot weather?

I confer with Guiness and Joe,
The typical reason for non-vertical applications is;
Most heat-sinks are on 2-3 edges of the amp, so logically if you mount the amp vertically that heat is going to rise and go right back over the top of your amp. If its in a well ventilated area, or you have fans around it(pushing hot air away), that shouldn't be an issue.
