Self install questions on 2013 Screw w/basic HU
Hey guys. This is my first "official" post beyond the intro. I have read everything that I could about installs in the newer Fords and have some questions. FYI.... I installed the last 3 systems that I have had, so I'm not new to installs. I am just very wary about tearing into a brand new truck (2 weeks old). I know about running signal down one side and power down the other to stop signal interference and how to run power and signal. Here are my questions:
1. Does the brand of line level adapter make a huge difference? I can get a Scosche from Best Buy for $20 or the Axxess from Fry's for the same price. I have heard of the PAC, but is there really much difference?
2. Does the brand install kit make any difference? Car Toys sells their install kits for $110 and up, but I can get a 4 gauge install kit complete with 14' RCAs, 20' 4 gauge power wire, 3' ground wire, remote turn on wire, fuse block and pretty much all the fittings that I would need for install for $30. Is the Car Toys kit really worth $80 more?
3. My amp is a Polk Audio PA880 that I installed in my old Titan a few months ago and will now install in the new truck. It is a Class AB amp, not a D. It pushes around 500w RMS and around 800 peak. It sounds amazingly clean and has TONS of power pushing my Polk Audio DXi 12 DVC that I have in a ported box. Anyway, my questions is where to mount it. Since it is a Class AB, it runs a little hot.
4. For those of you with a 2013, is there a preferred spot to run the power wire through the firewall?
I'm sure I will have a ton more questions, but that ought to be good for starters.
Thanks for any help in advance.

1. There shouldn't be much of a difference between the two, both companies have solid products.
2. I purchased an amp install for $80 that was well worth it. It only came with one or two set or RCa's however. I tried using a friend's older pair, and it just didn't have very good quality. Whether or not that's the case with the $30 option, I don't know. Does that justify $110 on an install kit? That's up to your budget
3. Depending on your sub setup (didn't see it listed, sorry) you could run it under the backseat by your sub. However, if your box takes up the whole area, behind the seat is the most common. Could be a problem for the AB, could possibly fab something up for under the passenger seat.
4. Couldn't tell ya 😁
Good luck with it all, if you have any more questions, fire away.
