Default Saturdays Install !!

Ok…so I am bringing my 2013 F150 Lariat Supercrew to Miami Pro Audio this weekend. I have the base stereo package with the nice large touchscreen. I want to keep the factory stereo itself. I asked the owner if he had any good audio solutions that would work with my existing radio. He said he did and happened to do a 2013 F150 just the other day. They are reputable, and have gotten almost all 5 star reviews…so I trust them.

I am not looking to win any car shows with my audio, I am looking at adding a little base to my sound system however. I DONT NEED over the top window rattling car next to me vibrating power….i just want a nice clean base that hits just a little bit.

My question is, what would I need to get this accomplished? And how much should I be looking at monetarily to get a sub, box, amp and install to accomplish a bit more thump, but not over the top car show thump.

He quoted me 650 for 2 Rockford Fosgate 10's, SubBox that fits under my back seat nicely and a 15 or 1600 watt Rockford Fosgate amp all installed. I believe he stated it was the "punch" series lineup…not positive on that as this was over the phone and not given as an estimate on paper. Does this sound about right? Or is this way more than I am looking for thump wise?

He did say I could go pioneer as a cheaper option.

I'd like your thoughts on any of the above. Thanks guys…and this is my first post.

RF is a good brand, but the price seems about $100 - $150 too high. You can get 2 10in Kicker subs, speaker box, a kicker 300 watt amp at BestBuy for $450 bucks.

My local audio dealer in Tallahassee does free install with a $5 shop fee. I'll bet you can get it all for less if you go in and say BestBuy is offering this....they'll deal because they want the business. If not, go somewhere else, it's Miami!

1600w is a lot of thump. If you're looking for just some accent bass, then that will be way more than what you need. but for $650 installed? Even for RF Punch, that sounds really cheap. Personally, I can't stand the RF speakers and amps. They just don't have the clarity I like. for a good amount of accent bass, you'll probably want 1 8" or 10" sub, no more than about 300w. You'll feel it in your seats, but not rattle yourself out of the truck. Here are some suggestions that I think would be a better choice imho:

Subs:

http://www.jlaudio.ca/product/54216....4_%26%23937%3B

Amps:

http://www.jbl.com/estore/jbl/us/pro...ctOnly&sCatId=
http://soundstream.com/store/car-aud.../pn2-350d.html

It may cost a little more to get exactly what you want, but you won't end up with a ton of really crappy bass.

Ok..so I went to two different places. One has me getting 2, 10" Rockford Fosgates and a Rockford Fosgate Amp, all installed and out the door at 650.00.

The other shop has me quoted for 2, 12" JBLs and an AudioTek amp. Installed and out the door at 390.00. I noticed that the amp was only 99.00. Do you think that this is a good deal? I do not want junk however.

The 250.00 price difference is quite a bit. What do you think of the 2 scenarios? I'm going to have one of them do it tomorrow.

Both are using an under the backseat sub box specifically made for trucks.

Well let me first say that I had a single 10" in my 2011 scab and it was more than enough bass for me. So 2 of them ought to be plenty. I was also running a 150 watt Alpine sub amp and had the levels turned down to a minimum. So I think 2 12s are over kill. I also think that the AudioTek is an inexpensive amp so if you don't want cheap I wouldn't get it. What about the first shop doing just one 10 inch and a lesser wattage amp? That should put you somewhere in the middle of your 2 quotes.

2 subs are just going to end up being way more bass than you want.

My installation was completed today. I ended up going with the 2, 10s rockford Fosgate and a 1600w Lightening audio in place of the rockford fosgate 500 amp. It was all put in a custom soundbox built specifically for trucks. I kept my component factory speakers and it all sounds very nice. Not too much where it shakes the car next to me but enough in my own vehicle that anything just lying around starts to dance around on it's own! The 1600 lightening audio is turned down so it won't blow the 10s, but I have enough if I want I upgrade I can keep same amp. I am pleased with the setup.

Good for you. Do you know how they got the inputs for the amp? Did they use a LOC and tap the speakers somewhere?

They tapped into the speaker wire. Under drivers side door sill.

OK just the left side or is there connections for right and left under the drivers side?
