Thinking of swapping over to a Foxacoustics box due to the versatility. Wasn't totally sold on my options with the other box. So what about the sundowner:

Powered by this JBL mono:

in a fox box. Wonder if I can go with an even larger sub in this box. It has a MOUNTING DEPTH: 6.25" with a magnet diameter of 6.5 inches or less and 1.75 floor clearance.

Are you looking at the Fox single 10 vented box? That box would definitely open up your possibilities. The box would be a little bit large for the sd2 but would work well for an SA10. Mounting depth on the SA10 is 6 inches. Don't know what the magnet diameter is on that. With an SA10 you will probably want 750w on tap

Fi ssd10. 6 inch mounting dept. The magnet tapers so you shouldn't have a problem with clearance on the back of the box. Great sub, but a little pricy at $214. 1000wrms rating, so you'll definitely want 750w minimum. Now I'm thinking about going this route. Wish fox had a pic of that box on their website

Alpine type-r would work as well

Just a 10. Started off wanting the integrated kicker amp sub but you guys convinced this is the better route, and it made sense. Then it was Rodneys cause it had the amp rack and could be up and running after a power wire was run and a LOC, but limited subs could be used.

So now its a fox box and I guess I'm going to have to bend over a bit and mount the amp somewhere.

Yup ok. Without having the limitations of the amp rack bigger amp it is, well if its worth it... Will the Fi SSD10 bang that much harder then an SA10. The Type R seems priced nice, my credit cards sitting beside me.

Theres quite a few pics out there of the box if you search images.

I don't think there will be an appreciable difference between the SA and the SSD. I'm a little concerned that the SA might not fit due to the magnet width restriction on the Fox box. Might want to email Sundown to see if they can give you that measurement. If you look at the pic of the SSD the back plate of the magnet has a taper to it so mounting shouldn't be a problem. I would probably go with the SA if I was sure it would fit

I can tell you that whatever you do I want to see it. Might influence what I do as well, even though I have a plethora of subs at my disposal already. I really wish I could use my beast sub but it's got a mounting depth of 8.25 inches so it's not fitting without removing a seat lol

Whats your thoughts on SA vs alpine typeR....

Are most of these DVC subs... Is there a performance difference between 2ohm dual and 4ohm dual...

Not sure how impressive my set up will be image wise but I'll post it up. Finally starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Was pitch black yesterday. Thanks

With your inventory of subs I'm assuming if you were to bounce on a fox box it would be a 10" Dual.

So I have had almost every shallow mount subeoofer out there when I owned a single cab, and only 1 sounded the best. The Rockford Fosgate P3 shallow mount stands out in SQ and SPL. They are extemly well build, and sound almost 2x times as good as the competitors. I had 2 of them in a big ported box on a JL Slash series 1000/1. They make a newer version, but I have not had the chance to test it out because my 2 year old shallows I was talking about still slam. Ill drop a link below. I highly recomend it, but you may have to change the box because of the different air specs.

EDIT: Ive seen a few others in this thread saying they own the sub Im talking about, but Im speaking from experience. For an amp, don't buy a ****ty amp. I recomend the JL 500/1, or the Alpine series. If you have the cash, go with Sundown.

For all of this I recomend doing the big 3 upgrade. (Google it) and running 4ga from the battery to a fuse, to the amp. I would recommend 12ga speaker wire. I wouldnt use cheap non-named brand quality wire.

I think the SA is a better sub than the type-r, but the type-r is a fine sub. DVC subs basically exist for wiring flexibility. A dual 2 ohm sub can be wired to 1 ohm or 4 ohms, while a SVC sub is what it is. There is no performance advantage to a DVC sub over a SVC. I actually don't have a pair of 10s. I have a single old school MTX 10, a pair of old school JBL 8s, and a Boston SPG-555 racetrack shaped neo motor 27 pound monster with a passive radiator that I REALLY wish I could use. I'm probably going to build a sealed box for the 10 and a ported box for the pair of 8s and see which I like better

Disagree. Power is power whether the amp says JL, Alpine, MB Quart, Hifonics, PPI or any other brand with few exceptions. You will NEVER hear the difference between a $500 amp and a $200 amp, especially on a sub. Most amps are made in the same factories in China and have different companies badges slapped on them.
