Rodney's boxes with amp + sub

Rodney's boxes with amp + sub
I've been checking out this kit, sounds like a great deal. Any thoughts...
Leaning towards a single sub to still have some stow away space in the back and also easier to move and store when I need to remove it. I also like the amp rack for not needing to drill into the truck for install.

I'd be looking at the sundown sd-2 10

Basically any 4-500w at 2Ω sub amp would work. Maxxsonics makes some good inexpensive amps (MB Quart, Hifonics)
The sundown has a 4.75 inch mounting depth, which is the same as rodneys lists for his box. It will be close, but you could space the sub out 1/4 inch if there is a clearance issue. That sundown sub will kill any shallow mount under $300

Kicker makes decent subs, sundown is still better though

What about this... Seems to have a similar RMS rating of the sundown sub.

Actually this amp won't fit the rack on that box. Crap

The hifonics amp would work. You would be overpowering the sub some though. You also have to remember to leave some clearance at the sides for your wiring. Just because the amp will fit on the shelf doesn't mean it will fit with the wiring sticking out both sides. I would never buy from dealercostcaraudio. Look at woofersetc.com or sonicelectronix.com. too many horror stories about dealercost

Here's a few amps I found perusing sonic electronix this morning. All of them will fit where you need them to and put out around 500w at 2 ohms. Good match for the sundown sub

This one might be the best as far as power and fitting where you need it to. Only 9 inches long
