I understand installation is a big part of it, but I'd have to give more then 20% of the credit to the equipment. I mean even the best install isn't gonna make cheap *** flea market equipment sound like top of the line equipment, no way, no how. I worked at an audio shop back in the mid 90's and still have friends that are in the business. Yes it's changed, but I'm not thinking it's changed that much.
i agree with you there, no matter how good the install, woofer size, or anything, cheap equipment will sound cheap. id really say sub size doesnt even matter compared to quality of the sub, amp, wires, etc. along with installation. even if an 8 can handle rock and quick beats better than a 15, a crappy 8 wont be able to compare to a higher end 15 in any way. and vice versa for a higher end 8 compared to a really crappy 15. thats how it seems to me anyway.

It has changed big time from a single proto sa8 bruping a 49 and change and to 12 18s cracking a firewall and still playing music great and loud at 15hz, things have changed, stuff is better and more efficient than ever

I totally agree on the fact that equipment is far more efficient then past equipment, but the overall principles of audio is still the same as it was 10 years ago.

I do agree for the most part, all the components of a subwoofer are the same, but no way in hell was there a sub back in the 90s with six neo magnets or anything like that, audio today is better minus all the pyle and legacy stuff lol

just got it all wired. the T1 sounds great with rap, and even sounds pretty good with country and rock too. i was a little nervous with all the talk about 8's and 10's always being more clean/hit quick beats better, but it does it every bit as good, if not better than most of the 10's ive heard. only problem is my amp is pretty crappy(as i figured) and it gets hot and shuts off after not too long. sub seems pretty underpowered with it. oh well it was still free. i sure am happy with it, once i decide on a better amp to buy ill be even happier.

gain is turned up a lot, cant remember what its at but it pretty close to all the way up. bass boost is like 3-4/8. ill have to go look i cant really remember. its pretty much what i expected, its a crappy sony xplod 1000 watt max. its like it has to work as hard as it can to give the sub what it needs. i figure its better than nothing until i decide on what kind of amp to buy. but it was offered to me for free so i thought i might as well hook it up. still like the sound, it sounds so clean and deep. cant wait to hear it with a better amp.

That's why its shutting off, turn your bass boost off and turn the gain down,,you will fry your sub quick sending it a nice clipped signal like that, and there is only on person who recones those type of rf subs if its blown and its not cheap

i turned it down some, it sucks cause unless bass and gain are turned up the amp really cant power the sub nearly as good as i want it to. i didnt figure it would. also, i thought i had a bad power/ground connection because not long after i installed it the power kept cutting out, but ive redone the wires so many times, cleaned the battery terminals, improved the ground, theres just no possible way. pretty sure its something inside the amp. so ill be buying a nice amp pretty soon. anyone got any recommendations? the sub is 600 rms, 1200 max
