Default Replace Factory Head Unit With OEM Nav

Anyone done this? Replace the non-nav head unit with a Navigation touch screen one, I'm wondering if its just plug-n-play?

I'm Asking for my 2010 F150 XLT. Base stereo package.
I bought 2 pairs of infinity 5x7's for the truck and want to see what else I can do to improve the sound.

Or where you could pick one up? Do you have to go through ford?

Thanks!

No sorry I haven't found anything out yet, it would be nice to pick up a ford nav for cheap and just toss it in there.

Don't plan on getting any help in this area. I was looking to put an OEM unit in my newly acquired '07 FX2 last summer on a couple different forums and didn't get one reply. I didn't have the time to "blaze the trail" myself, so I just put in an aftermarket touch-screen nav unit (Kenwood Excelon).

I know what you mean about the sound quality, it is absolutely horrible, even with a good head unit. I just replaced all four door speakers and had a JL Audio Stealthbox and amp installed on Fri. and the difference is amazing!!

Good luck with your "mod", you may have to be the trailblazer on this one. Maybe one day when I have the time, I'll go for it myself again.

I work for a dealer and it can be done but is extremely expensive, it costs around $3500 -$3800. Remember that the new head unit also controls the climate control and has to be rewired for that and the sync.

Are you referring to 04-08, 09 & newer or Both?

My 07 doesn't have automatic climate control.

Sorry just the 09-up F150, the 07-08 runs about $2500 installed if memory serves and has to have the audiophile sound system in order to work with the factory nav setup.

Interesting. I have talked to a couple different people on another thread that say all the wires should be there, just tied up so they don't rattle. So I pulled the unit(crazy and intense, but not to difficult) and didn't see any wires. Although on another post one guy said you won't need all the extra wires because you don't have the extra speakers that come with the Sony system. There is a great video on YouTube from lockpick on pulling the stereo.
