Removing factory Sony Sub, I have a few questions
First off, I'm as green as any audio newb. But I installed an amplified/loaded MTX Thunderform box in my 2004 F150 and hooked it to an aftermarket Pioneer Premier bluetooth stereo over a year ago and felt pretty proud of myself. I have since sold this truck to buy a 2009 F150, but I kept the MTX out of it.
My new truck has the "premium" Sony system without Navigation, and needless to say, the subwoofer sucks compared to the MTX. I want to remove the Sony sub and box and install the MTX but I have a few questions.
First off, the MTX Thunderform box I have was actually made to fit the 2004-2008 F150 models. The 2009 and up kind of switched the jack to the other side of the cab where the MTX box would normally go. Has anyone ever installed the 2004-2008 model in a 2009+ F150 by removing the jack and have it fit properly? Or should I just buy the proper MTX Thunderform box for my model?
Secondly, I have never installed an aftermarket subwoofer box to a factory head unit. I heard of this "line out control" but how does it install? Where does it install? Is there a write up with pictures or youtube video I can read or watch?
Thanks for tolerating my newbie ways

i would get the correct box for starters and then look up some research on how to wire it. I installed the kicker sub in my 2014 and it was just a few places I had to tap into to get it working. Didn't even mess with the head unit if i remember correctly.

Dazed and Confused
I kept the Sony sub and tapped the input wires to the sub with a LOC and added a powered sub behind the rear seat. Easy install and fairly inexpensive. I also replaced the door speakers. Sounds so much better.
