Removing faceplate on OEM cd player
Hi,
I am new to the site, but have found alot of valuable information here. I am wondering if it is possible to remove the faceplate from the OEM cd player and reattach it to another one? My reason is that my buttons have had all the paint flake off, but I have a 6 disc player and sub, so it is hard to find a cheap replacement. I have found a cd player that has a good face on it but won't play cd's.
Thanks for any advice!!

It can be done
Hi, I didn't get any responces but I figured it out and thought I'd let everyone know. I bought a head unit off ebay it said it worked when taken out, but after it hooked it up it didnt. So I decided to give it a try and switch the faceplates.
1.) You will want to get the same unit as you have installed. ie. 6 disc or single
2.) there are 4 torx screws on the sides of the faceplate( 2 on each side)
remove these and the faceplate is loose
3.) there are 2 wiring harnesses connecting it to the body of the cd player, I used a pick to pry them out.
4.) Just switch the faceplates and put it back together.
I did this last night took about 5 minutes to switch them, I checked all the function and they al work.
Hope this helps someone else, the reason I did this was simple:
The buttons on my cd player had the paint flake off of them, the cd player worked fine, but was ugly, So switch!
