Default Thanks Mate!!!

This is a lot of good info. Thanks for putting this together. I've stewed and stewed about doing it but I am satisfied with my current lazy method. I just put a piece of velcro above the stereo and ran a griffin coil cable out of the current input. Not as spiffy as yours, but if I get board or tired of having it on the dash as mentioned, then I will try your method. Its the best i've seen yet. Thanks again!

The PIE FRD04-AUX will give you one for about $80 and fifteen minutes of work in an 04-06.

I just purchased a factory 6 disc changer from a 2007 owner (Tunaslayer). is the aux wire mixed in the cluster for the factory plug or its own dedicated wire for which I can add myself? Thanks in advance for answers

It's in the sixteen pin (aux) connector.

Default Center Console

I am about to do this quick project myself. I hate the the aux input being located in the dash tray. Who wants to leave their expensive electronic devices on the dash, in the sun and where someone might break your window to steal???

I am going in a little bit of a different direction. I am going to splice into the current aux input cord so that I don't alter the look of the dash tray. I have also decided to install my new aux input inside my center console along with dual cigarette lighter plugs.

That way I don't even have to unplug my MP3 player, I just open the console and pull it out when I get in truck and put it back when I get out. The cable doesn't hinder the closing of the center console, so not a problem. I am adding dual cigarette lighter plugs as well so that there is a power source inside the center console. I always thought there should have been one there anyway. I picked up a dual cigarette lighter connection for $6.

If anyone is interested in this set-up, I can post pics when I am done or provide more details about the wiring.
