Default Rear overhead DVD system????

I installed a Pioneer avic-940bt head unit a few months ago. It has DVD integrated. I studied and read that the OEM overhead DVD player in my 05 Lariat was not compatible with any aftermarket head unit and I would lose it. No big deal BUT I have accepted the challenge of getting it functional. All I want is power to it and it would be used with wireless headphone, so getting the audio thru the speakers is not my goal=I just want power to it. Any suggestions or input? Or is it a lost cause? The DVD systems in the headrests are nice or I could go with an aftermarket system to replace the existing overhead player. Ideas?????

hey man dont get rid of that over head. looks to me that the over head has rca jacks on it are they an input ??? if so you can run a rca cable from your indash to the over head and get the video that way. your pioneer should have video output use that to run to your input of the over head n u got video from head unit. mean if u want to power the unit it self u can do it different ways, one u might be able to use the remote turn from your head unit to power it or can run new wire to it and put on a toggle switch to turn the unit on and off

Does the interface connect to the back of the head unit or up on the DVD system on the rail?

It would go behind the head unit. The connector for the DVD plugs into it, and you connect the RCAs to your new head unit, then give it power and ground.

At $150 it's a little on the pricey side, though.

But you'd pay around that for an aftermarket setup that won't look factory or use the rail system.
