Speaker Level wiring VS. Line Converter
What are the performance gains / minus's when installing an 4 channel AMP for the door speakers.
How about Sound Quality between the 2 ??
I've got Lariat with NAV & 8" MFT Sync, Non-Sony
Which wiring harness is best to use ? as i don't want to cut my factory harness !!

No Audio Guru's ? That have opinions on my 2015 Lariat install ???
Just received my Rockford Fosgate 400 watt 4 channel receiver awhile ago & am getting anxious..
If i need to get a Line out converter, that's no problem.

Hi! Been thinking about my system upgrade on my 2015 xlt for a couple months ago so I know where your coming from. First, you said 400 watt 4 channel receiver....do you mean amp? Guessing so. Are you upgrading your speakers? If not you should, factory ones are no good.
For a converter I'm getting the Audiocontrol LCQ1, mainly because it also has EQ built in ( ). The lc7i is cheaper but of course does less.
My plan, without cutting wires is to tap into the speakers wires on the wire harness behind the oem head unit without cutting wires, using something like these:
After that, run new speaker wires from the amp to each speaker. This means cutting the factory harness off the oem speakers. Of course you'll need to run power wire from the battery to your amp.
BTW those audio control converters have a lot of cool features, make sure you read up and understand what they do. For example they have a GTO (great turn on) feature that detects when the speaker wires have sound and in turn power a turn on lead for you amp. Nice!
Hope this helps......

. I'll use a Speedwire to run the 8 speaker wires (as one main cable) back to the amp behind the rear seats.

Dazed and Confused
A new amp will help more if you get speakers that can and will utilize the power to give you clean sound. I don't think it will help the stock speakers very much.

Thanks for the reply, indeed i have already changed out the 4 door speakers with JBL 's (they're making a comeback) and Yes, i was referring to the Rockford Fosgate R400 RD AMP that just arrived today !!
This discussion has become moot, as the R400D didn't come with provison for using the high level speaker wire.

You still need a converter for your speaker leads to rca's. Fwiw, I'm changing my approach. Going to run the front two speaker leads into and audiocontrol lc2i. From there into a clarion eq to give me control over the sound. Then to the amps. Note that the clarion takes in 2 chanels and converts them to 5....two fronts, 2 rear, and a sub channel.
Should work for you too.
