pulse as in your getting some noise with volume all the way down? If so, couple quick things to check are gain setting, bad/cheap rca's and bad ground. most common culprits for noise.

From my experience, its hard to find a bad ground with voltage testing on a DMM. Voltage travels well through metals, even some with very high resistance. However, because the voltage stays relatively the same, doesn't mean your current did. Amps and resistance measure tend to help you find the bad ground quicker. This is why some lights work with terrible grounds (they dont pull much current) and the voltage is relatively the same. On the other hand, if you have a bad ground on a Welder, your amperes will be reduced drastically and not operate correct even with if it has a good voltage reading.
Do you have your RCA's ran away from your power and remote leads? And like Joe stated, could very well be a cheap set of RCAs with bad insulation or connectors. I would start by checking them or changing them out. Then get into looking at bad grounding issues.
