I am very happy with it. Its well made, very solid. The plastic is thick, hard and secured with bolts. Its got some weight to it as well. Its not going to blow your windows out or anything, but does fill in nice deep bass. I wanted something under the front seat because I need the space in the cab for when i go hunting or whatever.
Compared to the OEM Sony factory system with subwoofer I had in my old 2010 Sport trac, this is much better.

It's not required but certainly makes things cleaner and easier. Some amps have "line-in" inputs where you splice into your factory speaker wire and pull the sound signal from there. The PAC unit is only about 40 bucks and is a snap to install. Plus, I didn't want to cut into my factory wires.

So it just acts as a plug and play adapter to make life easier in this situation and doesn't affect functionality like it does for after market head units?

You got it! It also has a built in remote wire so you don't need to splice into any aux power lines so your amp knows when to turn on and turn off when the key is in the ignition. The PAC unit it well worth the money.
