Polk DB571 vs Boston Acoustic S85
Only had my 2010 Super Crew 2 weeks. I love the truck but the factory sound is killing me. I've talked with an adviser at Crutchfield and he recommended these 2 sets of speakers in my price range. I intend to keep the factory head unit and also add an Kenwood KAC-6404 Amp. Has anyone else tried any of these speakers?

I'd recommend components in the front doors rather than either of those coax speakers. If you're going to spring for an amp, I'd go a little higher than 40 W RMS a channel.
You'll normally find significantly better prices than crutchfield by google shopping the model number.

Thanks for the response Gator. What would you recommend? I've read some of your posts and it seems you know your stuff on car audio. I told the adviser at Crutchfield I didn't want to spend more than $300 on Speakers and an Amp so I'm certain that played into his recommendations. After searching the web I found the speakers he recommended for half of what Crutchfield wants for them. If you could steer me towards some good equipment I would definitely look into it.

Yeah I probably could. As a matter of fact I was thinking about Sub. I just don't know to much about Audio equipment. That's why I called Crutchfield. I hate to admit it but I need someone to tell me what to buy. There are so many different brands and different types I just confuse myself looking at them all. If you were on a budget of say around $400 what would you buy.
Thanks

I agree with you Wildturkey. I have a 2009 F150 supercrew and I love the truck but the factory sound is sub par. I spoke to crutchfield too. They recommended the Polk db571 with an Eclipse EA4200 amp. It sounds great. Sound clarity is superb but no bass (as would be expected with aftermarket mid-range speakers). Install and evertyhing ran about $700 but that was around Christmas so I dont know what the prices are now. If you want to add bass, prepare to shell out some money as the new F150s were not designed for aftermarket stereos. A shallow mount sub is about all you can fit in those trucks and they are not cheap.

Infinity 1050W ~$70
PG RSD65CS ~$70
6x8->6.5" adapters ~$10
Knukonceptz KLM Amp Kit ~$35
Atrend single 10 box ~$60
This is real quick on the amp, but http://www.woofersetc.com/p5721/V754...-Amplifier.htm would work $150
Total - $395 (probably a little over $400 with shipping)
This gives you decent front components getting 75 W RMS each, and a 10 getting 250W RMS. The amp has speaker level inputs, so you shouldn't need a LOC). You could get better equipment used, too. Check out the classifieds at diyma.com
EDIT: I meant to explain that I'd leave the rears stock, and fade the headunit forward when you don't have passengers. You don't have to have rear fill for good sound.
