Components up front... debate
Question for the group... Why do people put the tweeters up in the sails when they install components in the front. In my research this creates an uneven stage between the mid range and the tweeter... correct? I have read that the two should not be placed farther than 8" apart...
I also understand that the higher the freq the more directional it becomes... i.e. bass is low freq and doesn't matter where you point the subs...

That distance is a rule of thumb. I have mouted Tweeters next to the mid, in the dash, and everywhere in between with good results. The big thing is to have a clear path from both tweeters to your ears so that is why most place them high up in the vehicle. Some highend components have adjustments for tweeter to mid distance and off axis mounting ie when the tweeter and mid are not facing the same way think tweeter in the dash and mid in the door.
A note on dash mounting the tweeters: they get a big boost when reflected off the windsheild so I usually adjust the crossover down on the tweeter like -3db or so. hope this helps.
