Default Not worth buying

I have installed my fair share of car stereo stuff and I have never been brand loyal so not only have I tried a lot of stuff but I have used stuff from a lot of different manufacturers and so I was really looking forward to installing a pair of Polk DB651s....what a mistake. These speakers are junk. No bass of any sort and midrange that I can only describe as barely passable. I do not know why people like this stuff so much but don't waste your money....the stock 6x8's in a 2013 F150 easily outperform these units.

Thanks for your opinion. Polk is usually one of the recommended brands on this forum.

How much bass do you expect from a speaker that small? I added a 10" sub with the Polks and love the sound. To each their own.

Hey Boulevard, I agree with you on this. I had Polk speakers front and rear on my last F150 and was not impressed with them.

I have said this many times. Always add power with aftermarket speakers. OEM speakers are designed to run on low power. They also respond well to more power but aftermarket speakers really require more power than the weak amplification of a stock system.

The Polk DB571's I have are far and above oem quality and sound reproduction, just need to pump more juice thru them, I didn't and as mentioned add a sub. Love the over all frequency range and quality.

You are correct on the need for more power. I was running the Polks with an Alpine PDX-5. They weren't the highest end Polks so maybe that was the problem. I'm running the same amp with some Focal PS 165s and they sound great. BTW, I don't work for Focal or sell them.

I'm gonna put Infinity Kappa's in the front, and Polk's in the back deck of my daughter's car, and she'll be happy, but if I upgrade mine, I want to go with Hertz.

Going from a 6x8 to a 6.5 you will lose that front stage bass that you had with the stockers. Even with more wattage thrown at the 6.5s you probably won't have the same low end punch. If you don't have a sub at the very least I would get one.
