Default new sub box idea....

so since I am dissapointed in the performance of my subs (i think i need a bigger amp and bigger box), How about I get a bigger box and either cut 2/3 inches of cushion out of the rear seat and have it slip over the box when installed?? Or i could get a seat lift and then have a bigger box built that way, what do you guys think?

What year is your truck? What are you currently running?

I have a seat lift in mine and was able to get about 2.8 ft^3 out of it. Enough for a number of different sub configs. (4 8s ported, 2 10s ported, 2 12s sealed, etc.)

its a 04 supercrew, im running 2 4 ohm 10 inch solo classics with a zx500.1, headunit is a eclipse avn...... something lol. So i should buy the seat lift and build a bigger box? Im in my young years right now, so im a "bass head" I want to be heard around the block.

I would do a seat lift and bigger box over cutting your seat. I have two 12 Kicker CVR's under my back seat

If you want some serious bass then I recommend the seat lift and a ported setup... 2 10s or 4 8s.

If you want to be a basshead, take your backseat out like I did. These are the beginning picks of what went in when I took my backseats out:

loudf150, that looks awesome, but Id still like to have my backseat. I guess ill do the seat lift but its just so expensive its like $180 just for two brackets and some bolts. That's rediculous!

And Ray21, I just may do the ported box, i got to do something because im not impressed at all with my setup!

Let me get this straight, from Kicker's website the solo classics are DVC, so with two 4 ohm DVC subs, you can only run 1 or 4 ohm total load, the amp is only 2 ohm stable, so I'm guessing that your running it at 4 ohm load. That means your splitting 250W RMS between two subs (meaning they're each getting 125W RMS), and the subs can take 450W RMS each. You should start with a lot more power if you're disappointed, look for an amp that does around 900-1000 W RMS at one ohm.

Hey Gator, would I be better off buying a bigger amp like you said, or buy another zx500.1 and have each sub getting their own amp?

Are you sure about the impedance of the subs? The 09 Classic 10 was available in single 4 ohm. You may have one of those instead of the current model.

If they aren't reaching x-max with the amount of power you have now, more will certainly help. It really is hard to get good bass out of small sealed enclosures, especially with Kicker subs... they are notorious for requiring huge boxes.
