New speakers or new radio???
Hello everyone,
My dad bought an f150 last year and has been complaining about the factory sound. I myself believe it lacks quality. Christmas is around the corner and I plan on correcting the issue as a gift. I'm not sure if I should get an aftermarket radio or replace the speakers and keep the OEM Ford radio. Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

My 2 cents...it depends on your budget and his needs. It is probably cheaper to go with a speaker upgrade. Add a sub for better low end. That is what I did and kept it that way for about 2 years. But I got the itch and added a HU with SAT, GPS, USB. Speakers upgrade is around $200 - $800 depending on the quality. HU can be $200 - $1500 depending on quality. Rough estimates of course. With a HU change you get into Sync, steering wheel control questions.

well he doesn't turn it up too loud. I am pretty good with installing stuff as I have done all the work to my truck, and past vehicles. Saying that, if I decided to go with speakers what do you recommend as far as a reliable good sound that doesn't break the bank?

Polk and Infinity are popular on this forum. I installed Polk MM6501 (front - component), db571 (coax - rear)
