I also have a Kicker amp/dsp for my door speakers taken from a 2012-2014 F150 Powerstage kit so my sound is going to be different than what you're getting.

I thought mine was only a little bright with the speaker button left at zero so on the factory headunit I reduced the highs by 2 bars, left the mids alone at zero, and increased the lows by 2 bars because I don't have a subwoofer yet. I would never describe the highs I get as bleeding ears bad, so maybe it's the factory dsp giving you problems with the more sensitive speakers? Hope you sort it out, I think the sound I'm getting in general is fantastic and I can't wait to add a subwoofer to fix the low end.
For the most part I feel the same, my first "Holy Cow that sounds effing awesome" moment was when just flipping thru tracks and came upon Adele's He Won't Go, (normally her songs are for when my wife's in the truck with me) and it blew me away how good it sounded. The sub was kicking my seat on the bass, and the vocals and everything else were just tremendous.

It's just those certain ones that seem to cause the hurt...

Post up what you end up with, I am going to install 4 GTO628 and sound deadening in mine next week and was wondering if I need to keep the A pillar tweeter or disconnect it.
I have the sub already and really don't think I am going to add a 4 ch amp so I am hoping this will complete the audio part of the truck

Well, on the way home from work yesterday, I covered up the tweeters with towels and it didn't make a big difference, so I was skeptical about disconnecting them. But once I did (and the a-pillar trim was the easiest trim to remove by far) it was night and day. Instead of having my mid and treble at -3 and/or -4, I had to bump the mid to +4 and the treble to +2. I'm still trying to tweak it, but so far that seems about right, at the moment anyway.

I may even pull the door panels off again (a royal pain) and switch the speakers to 0db instead of -3.

But with that all said, I think I'd still like to put some good quality tweeters there since even tho the harshness seems to be gone, it now feels like a little something is missing.

But finding something good that will fit in this little spot could be challenging...

If it was me, I would be trying to disconnect the tweeters on the JBL speaker and replace the tweeters on A pillar with some nice silk dome tweeters.

Not to sure about doing away with the speaker tweeters, but looking into some for the pillar, I came across these...

Which I can get for about half the price from Amazon.

Not to sure about being able to attach them to the factory bracket in the picture earlier tho...

JBL tweeters tends to be bit brighter. Most tweeters comes with mounting hardware else you can get something like this.

or these Kicker KST20's which I could order from Best Buy and use a couple of gift cards I have had for a while and pay basically nothing. But same issue with the mounting as well tho...

Thanks for the insight on the JBL's. Even tho all the reviews seem to be pretty good on those, I definitely want to steer clear of too bright.

That back strap-looks like it would work good if the included hardware doesn't, and could probably pick some up just about anywhere.

I noticed even with the tweeters disconnected, the new JBL's seem pretty bright still when it comes to certain songs, especially during cymbal crashes, etc.

But what I'd like to ask, is if anybody would know if the high pass filters on my Alpine amp could be affecting this.

High Pass Filter Frequency Selector Switches
a) Slide switches 1 and 2 to the up
position to turn off HP filter on front or
rear channels [DEFAULT setting]
b) Slide switch 1 to the down position and
switch 2 to the up position to set the
cutoff frequency to 60Hz on front or rear
channels
c) Slide switch 1 to the up position and
switch 2 to the down position to set the
cutoff frequency to 80Hz on front or rear
channels.
d) Slide switches 1 and 2 to the down
position to set the cutoff frequency to
120Hz on front or rear channels
I think I may have them set on default setting for both front and rear. I played around with the different setting when I installed it and think I ended up keeping them on the default, but not 100% sure without pulling front panel off and unstrapping the amp.

Would switching to one of the other setting help take some of the brightness away in the front?

The high pass is for when the speaker starts handling the frequency. You can see by your specs that depending on the switch settings it lowers the starting frequency. It doesn't affect the highs. You need to make that adjustment on the treble setting on the speaker. You want to set the high pass to match close to where you have your sub roll off.
