I did not. I just cut a small notch in the plastic center dash tray and put it on top next to the sun sensor. I remember reading that some had success putting it just under the dash.

Does crutchfield include instructions on how to add a backup cam to the HU, when you previously didnt have one? I ordered the oem style ford logo backup cam from The Camera Source with a rca connector.

Any one add this style backup cam... Just trying to have my ducks in a row, when everything arrives and I install it.

Crutchfield includes a camera with some of their Kenwood stereos. You may be able to talk them into sending you the instructions for that camera. I think it would be similar since they both use RCA connectors.

AFAIK all cameras use a coaxial composite video signal/cable that terminates in an RCA type plug. The color of the insulation on the connector is yellow. The Kenwood head unit has a female yellow connector on it. I just tapped the existing composite video line in my truck for the factory rear camera. Then I bought a Kenwood camera for the front.

I called Crutchfield, and they said if I needed any assistance with the install theyd walk me through with the 892 and backup cam! This is good to hear...

Im assuming the camera has just the yellow rca, a positive, and negative wire?
