Guys, the fader works with the FiX-82 and same with the balance. The signal is summed and then it's up to you to wire the amp correctly for the fader/balance to work. I've already installed a few of these units and it's completely awesome. I only have two left in stock if anyone is interested. PM me for special forum pricing and instructions on how to wire the unit so it works correctly.

Maybe you can explain this...

The output side of the fix-82 is a single set of RCA's. Totally understand that the 'balance' of left to right works with your head unit, but maybe you can explain to me how fader works? It doesn't. It cannot.

Even if you run a single set of RCA's or split them... it's just one set of L & R channels - correct?

So, just to be sure here... fader CANNOT work? Right? Balance, on the other hand, does.

I see what you are asking perhaps I misunderstood. You are correct in saying with 1 set of RCAs you would only get right and left outputs. So unless you ran a second FiX-82 using only the rear speaker wires for summing and the first FiX-82 to the front and then these to an amplifier and the appropriate channels then and only then would fader controls from the head unit work. I only use one FiX-82 unit and set my gains on my amps for front and rear then never touch them again. Now if you can wait the FiX-86 due to come out soon will have 6 outputs (3 sets of RCAs) which would solve the issue you are facing. I have been told that the 86 unit and TwK are set to be release really soon. I'm hoping within the month or early next month.

I am a real new-b here so go easy on me. This Fix-82 sounds like what I have been looking for. I want to stick with my oem hu, add some amp, and change out speakers with the JL C2-690 and 650's. I was going to use the Alpine KTP-445U power pack for amp as I am not looking for super loud or a sub. I have been concerned about the sound that would come from the stock eq settings of the hu (I have the non-Sony set up). So am I on the right track to add the Fix into the mix? Or would you think with the simple upgrade I outlined I would be fine without it? Thanks for any feedback.

The FiX-82 will help get the signal from the head unit to your amp. It automatically sums the signal so you don't have to tune anything. It's the simplest solution for people that don't want to learn how to do tuning. Let me know if you need a quote on the FiX-82 and speakers. I'm having a special going on right now for all JL Audio products. Send me a PM if interested.

The Fix82 is shipping now (has been for a while now).

The Fix86 is not shipping yet (as of Apr 11th anyways).

Just found this thread while searching. Looking to do a system in my 2016 Platinum. I already have Audison amps as well as an audison Bit One to install. Do I still need the JL Fix on top of the Bit One? A local dealer is telling me I do, but not sure if thats correct. Thanks all.

No, if the installer is worth their salt, they should be able to use the Bit One to do the same thing the FiX would do, unless there's something I'm missing.
