Default New HU Install with 3M Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap

I finally have my system complete, with the exception of the backup camera I am still waiting to receive but I thought I would share a pic because if I can do this, anyone can do this!

This is a Scosche faceplate that I wrapped with 3M Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap. I had ZERO confidence that I could actually do this but I surprised myself, it came out perfect. It took me about 2 hours as I was very slow and meticulous but with a hair dryer and some patience I am really pleased with the result.

If you want that extra touch for your install or just want to wrap other things in your vehicle I highly recommend this product. It comes in many colors and variations, carbon, wood, etc.

troutspinner, Your customized faceplate looks great! I had seen the 3M product and wondered if it actually looked as good in real life as the promo photos. Your installation proves that it does.

Where did you get your wrap from and about how much was it? I think I might want to do this on my stock face plate. Good job man.

I got it at vinyldecals.com. It was $22.66 for a 12" x 24" piece shipped. You could get away with a 12" x 18" piece but I am not sure if it was available in that size.

Best thing about it, if you don't succeed or don't like it, you can peel it off. It will take some work but you won't ruin your faceplate with glue or gunk.

Looks good.. I'm considering doing it to mine. I actually redid all the helm inserts in my boat last year with it and it came out great. The only suggestion I have is to also get the 3M adhesive primer.

Ive been looking into this a bit more and I think I'm going to do the black CF and Anthracite CF. There are 2 kinds of 3M Di Noc and the new 3M Scotchprint 1080. Here is a you tube video I found showing the new 3M 1080 films.http://youtu.be/sTliJt6AfgM?hd=1

Nah, sorry. When uploading I had to reduce the size due to the forum limitations. I looked at my source photo and it isn't much better.

I can tell you that some of the sites that sell it have some good pictures but they still do not do the material justice.

When I purchased it I questioned how good it would look but when I seen it in person I immediately though "oh yeah, this is gonna look awesome".

Try using photobucket or picasawebalbums and you can upload larger pics. It does look good though.
