Default New HU for 2011 FX4 F150

I have a 2011 FX4 F150, no navigation, but have sync and the 6 disc CD changer. I was thinking of maybe putting in an after market navigation head unit in my truck. I was wondering if anyone else has went from the 6 disc CD changer with sync to an after market navigation head unit? If you can post pictures of the dash and what it looks like, I’d appreciate it. I’m just curious what the new plastic trim looks like that you get with the HU. I'm wondering if it's glossy black like my current trim, or if it's just flat?

Thanks,

marly

Not the best pic. As of right now you will just have to paint it glossy black. There is supposed to be an fx4 dash kit released soon.

Thanks for posting the picture. Do you know who might be releasing the FX4 dash kit? I'd like the dash kit to match the rest of the dash in the truck, so it might be worth just waiting.

I wonder if I wait long enough, maybe I can get a Nav/dash kit out of a parts truck at some point.

A metra rep told me mid summer. By the way a dash kit from a nav truck won't work. The screen cutout is a different size plus the ac controls are different. I had the same thought to wait like you did, but the glossy black grew on me and doesn't bother me at all know. Everyone that gets in the truck think it is factory. I will switch it out once the kit comes out though. I could not take the factory radio anymore!!!!!

Memphis, I have a question for you. Did you mount the stereo to the slot where the old unit was or is it attached to the bezel. Also, what kind of mounting kit did you use?

I actually did not in stall this one. Got a great deal on the install. I'm pretty sure the unit mounts where the old radio was at. What I really love is that the installer ran the old sync lines, the USB and aux jack, to the new radio. It made a really nice install.

I ditched sync since the radio does everything I need. I did keep the steering wheel controls and added a backup camera. I used a pioneer camera. Works great in low light!
