This will work but you will need to get your switched power from the fuse box

i was just doing this yesterday and ran into a problem with the accessory wire only providing 2.5 VDC to the radio, which isn't enough to run the new radio I installed. I have it spliced into the passenger air bag wire since it get power only when the ignition is on. But that means the key is on all the way instead of it just being on accessory. Is there an ideal place to splice into where I can use it in the accessory position instead of all the way on? I have the same truck also, 2011 XLT w/o sync.

I know it has been answered many times so do a search. If I remember right there is a place in the fuse box marked ACC . I think I would stay away from tapping anything into the airbag power

Yeah i searched but couldn't find exactly what i was looking for. (fuse numbers were different in the threads I found) Thinking about it now I think its the traction control wire, not the air bag, but I still don't wanna leave it like that.
