I just took a trip to Cartoys to listen to these. The Kappa series sounds sooooo good. Anyone know how these compare to the Kappa series? The 682.11cf were the only ones they had that I could listen to. They also had the 8602CFX which were probably comparable to the ones you guys are talking about...I just don't want to be dissappointed and not get the Kappas if they are that much better. If not, I'll stick with the reference models.

I grabbed them too BrewCity and was probably installing at the same time. I also added the Kicker 11HS8 powered sub under the rear seat. It really fills in the lows nicely and has more kick to it than anticipated. I'm eventually going to add the Alpine KTP-445U power pack amp to send the Infinity's a little more power. But, it still sounds better than Bose system in wife's CX-9 as it is now.

I'm doing the exact same thing except I got the Sound Ordnance 8" powered sub. I may opt for the Alpine KTP-445U but will see how the setup sounds with the little powered sub before I make the call.

Either or both, do a install guide on both the hide always and the power pack ;D save me frustration down the road

I just talked to the Crutchfield guy and the Cartoys rep again. They both explained that the 6832's are last year's model and the 8602 is this year's model. A bunch of difference, from what they both explained. They also said that the reference speakers are better if you aren't planning to add an aftermarket amp. The reference speakers are the #1 selling speaker right now so they are very very good. I think I'm going to have Cartoys do the install. I can get all four 8602 speakers installed for just under 400. Sounds like a little high on the install rate but I don't want to mess anything up and I'd rather them be on the hook for any warranty issues or whatever might pop up.

If that's 400 before the price of speakers walk away. It honestly is an insanely easy install, I did 4 in about 90 minutes and that's only cause getting the door lock back in place is a pain till you figure it out.

As far as the reference line going yes, reference is top 2011 tech from infinity where as kappa is the 2012 line, once 2013s are released, the current kappa becomes reference models and the current reference line becomes discontinued.

Hmm I hope that $400 is all in - speakers, install, etc? Even if that's the case, that sounds extremely high for speakers that you could easily do yourself. I spent $120 for all four speakers, $10 for a panel removal tool kit and about 2 hours of my time.

In terms of the 6832 vs. 8602, aside from woofer composition, they have identical specs. It's your money, but when you can pick up a pair of the outgoing model for 50% less than the new model, it seems like a no brainer to me. You'd have to hear them side by side to determine if it's worth the extra money to you. And if you're powering off your stock HU, I would find it hard to justify spending more. Just my 2 cents.

I have one pair of the 6832's in my rear doors, I have since added the sound ordnance powered sub. The combination seems to work well together, it won't rattle the neighbor's windows, but effective. It takes a while to get the powered sub dialed in, but has plenty of adjustment. Can't believe the stock systems in $40k+ trucks can be so bad.....

Just went to another shop that I liked a lot better. I was quoted $440 which includes tax, install, speakers, and dynamat sound deadening installation on all four doors. These are the 8062's which are the new model. I heard the Kappas next to the References and I could hear a big difference but I still liked the references quite a bit. He said the Kappa's are a 4ohm speaker and it could eventually lead to hurting my stock headunit. I think I am sold on the 8062's.

Eventually I am going to get a upgraded head unit and an amp. So, these speakers will definately set me up very well.

I know that I might be able to install them myself, but I just am not sure I want to attempt it at this point. I am still thinking about it.

Well, just talked to the crutchfield guys. The Kappa's will not hurt my headunit. I thinking about leaning towards the Kappas now and putting them on an amp later on.
