I like the option to set your rears for highs and seperate gains on both. After much trial and error, I think I finally got my gains set perfect fom my liking. I didn't want to use the fade function as that would effect my Sub running off the rear ch.

My whole goal was reproduction of the music as it was intended, and for $701 I am more than happy with my setup!! I may do a HU swap down the road, but for now it sounds great and won't attract the attention of thieves!!

Glad to hear you like the MTX mini amp, looks like a steal at $99.00. The 1000 watt MTX monoblock amp also looks good for $150.00

I went with the MTX Thunder(series)500.1 mono amp. 500w is plenty of power for 1 8" sub. It has subsonic filters and was only $139 also.

Sounds like a solid amp. The big advantage for the extra $20 bucks would be $100 watts more at 2ohms, the compact chassis & if you ever wanted to add another sub, you would have 1,000 watts @ 1ohm at your disposal

Default Wow, the Infinity Kappa's are GREAT amped

I finished up the amp and wiring this weekend. I installed an Alpine MRX-V70 5 channel amp. I hooked them up to the Inifinity Kappa 6832's and I can't even describe the difference. There is simply no comparison. I love my stereo again.

I left the stock head unit so I still have all bluetooth integration and Sync. No my speakers have full range sound and no longer sound like they are playing out of a Coke can.

I have ordered a JL Audio 10 inch to put under the rear bench seat, but it hasn't arrived. I ran the wire from the amp, so it's ready to plug in once it arrives.

The amp is behind the rear drivers seat. I mounted it to the back wall and worked perfectly!

Anyone looking at upgrading, you need to do this. It's great!

Great news Husker. I bought an NVX amp (http://www.nvx.com/car-amplifiers/mvpa4.html). I plan to install it in/under the instrument panel.
I have already replaced my speakers. See sig. I also have a Kenwood DNX890HD on the way. I won't have to give up Synch or BT and I will gain Nav and Vehicle gauges.

OOPS looks like I did not add speakers to my sig. And I get a server error when trying to edit it.
Speakers are Infinity Kappa 682.11cf

Actually bought thru Amazon cause it was a little cheaper.

It sounds like you'll be rocking in no time Feather. Btw, my speakers are actually Infinity Kappa 682.9cf, I had a brain fart.

I was really disappointed after I put the Kappas in. The amp brought them to life though and now I love them.

Several people said not to get the kappas unless I was going to amp them. The reference series was recommended if I wasn't going to put the amp in. After running them without an amp for a month, I 100% agree with them. One caveat though, if you're going to add an amp, go with the Kappas!

Btw, I love the idea of putting the amp behind the dash. That will reduce a lot of wire running.

You are right about the speakers. They sound better than stock but not as good as I expected. I have a new head unit on the way so the amp will have to wait until the head is installed. I still think the amp will fit behind the dash. I may try to add a sub also.

I am more than happy with my stock HU. The amp is what made the difference. even at 1/4 gains when I first installed it, I knew it was a keeper. The doors actually had great bass with it. I would love(and might) get a new HU, but 2 things are holding me back.

1.) New stuff is coming out in a month or so. If the new line from Pioneer or JVC isn't stellar, the old stuff will be heavlily discounted
2.) Theft deterent with the old. I have my amps and sub covertly hidden so people will have no idea what I have. Unless I put the "IDIOT" stickers in my back window,(you know who you are). All they do is create a shopping list for thieves

Put these in today. Also have the same crunching noise on passenger front window. Any ideas? Thanks.

Make sure your wires are secure and out of the way. It may be the glass is hitting them when you put the window down.
