Default Need some more sound

I am looking for some help with upgrading my stock sound system. 2009 f-150 Lariat Super Crew with the Sync. I would like to install a powered sub and some better speakers. I've been working arounds jets for 30 years so extreme bass and squeaky highs aren't that important. Just need a little more thump.

The speakers in the doors are 6x8 I believe and with the sub your going to have to get an amp and then run it to a LOC to the stock head unit unless you get an aftermarket radio also. If you did, the sub would sound better, and so would the speakers.

Adding a sub will be the most noticeable improvement. You can look for a powered sub box I think your not going to find much to fit under your rear seat. I make a dual 10 inch downfire enclosure for $175 & free shipping and you can get a pair of JL 10w0 v2's for $200 a set. Get a good 5 channel amp and your good to go. Your factory door speakers can easily play twice as loud and lot cleaner with a aftermarket amp and proper crossover settings. Once you remove the bass form you factory speakers they can pump out a lot more mids and highs without distorting. For $150-250 more you can change out your factory speakers. Just depends on what you want to spend.

Thanks for the info. I have a Bazooka powered sub that came out of my 02 F150. Do you know if there are RCA connections on the back of the stock stereo? If I can hook the Bazooka to the stock head unit that would save me some bucks. It fits under the rear smaller seat without too much effort.

$175 for a box is quite expensive, even custom. You can find boxes online for less, try sonicelectronix.com or just use google search. Also you can replace factory door speakers with quality speakers for less than $100, my Alpines were around $75-80 and they take no time to install. I would replace your head unit, door speakers, and if youre not looking for serious bump you can put a single 10 or 12 under your backseat without having to get a huge expensive amp, use ebay, really good amps $150 and up, lesser amos are $80-150. If youre not going for serious sound and serious bass you can get a pretty good system for $500 or so.
