I've had the truck for a year now and have been tired of the factory XLT stereos lack of everything. Installed Hertz Hi Energy 6.5 mids in the front doors, JL tweeters in the pillars since they fit with no modification to the pillar, and Hertz Hi Energy 6.5 Coaxials in the rear doors with a JL Clean Sweep and a JL Audio JX 4 channel amp a while ago but still hated the lack of bass. So I've had some 8" Pioneer subs laying around, long time ago had a friend who got a lot of factory ford parts and had two factory enclosures from a older explorer. Built a small sealed box with .23 cubic feet to each speaker and 5 ounces of poly fill in each chamber. Currently running them of the 4 channel amp for about 75 watts each and running the rear doors off the factory radio. Nothing mind blowing but it has a very clean sound and all of the music is now fun to listen to again. Some pics attached.

The JL C5-075ct .75 inch tweeters fit by sanding their flush mount bracket a little. I'll post a pic later.

Pics of the amp and tweeters. Still have some wires to clean up. Just too hot for me to do so right now, sweating like a pig. Clean sweep remote has to be hooked up but I don't use it to control volume so it's just thrown behind the seat for now.

Thanks! Looks good. I need to mount my amp like that as well. These trucks become money pits. I just bought an aftermarket exhaust. Lol

Yup yup. I actually bought the JL C5 5x7 comp set and couldn't stand the mid bass output so ended up using my Hertz mids and have the JLs collecting dust.

I just installed some new JL ZR100-CT tweeters, pretty happy with them. They run off my Advent head unit so not getting full potential obviously but still an upgrade and look great. Easy simple install just had to file out the hole to where they go in nice and tight...then just ran the new bass blockers and connected the wires.

Looks good. I think later this year I'm going to pick a set of hertz HT28 tweeters again and just install the factory grill again. I know the hertz tweeters come with a installation mount that will use factory holes. I've been surprised by the JL tweets but still prefer the HT28s.
