Default My system: your opinion...

What's up guys. Just want your opinion on my system and how it compares to the factory OEM Kicker setup. They seem to be pretty costly everywhere I've looked.

As of right now, they have been working on it for about 3hrs. He prob won't be done until 11pm due to the amount of work. I'm just keeping it just like this...
I'm pretty sure this will be a step up from the Kicker OEM kit and for less money.

Keeping stock head unit; I dont like peering thieves and like factory presets
Infinity Kappa component pair
Infinity Kappa Coaxial pair
Kicker Bass package - 10" CompS in a factory ported kicker truck box
Kicker KX400.4
Kicker CX300.1

So what do you think? Will this significantly sound better than the OEM Kicker kit, let alone the crappy OEM paper speakers?

Solid components all the way around. Assuming they're installed and tuned properly, it'll be night and day over the stock system.

I remember a while back a post where op regretted going with coaxials in the rear.

Otherwise it looks like fun.

Thanks McCleod!

Heavy metal, why was he disappointed in the coaxials in the rear?

Iirc he was disappointed in the difference between them. Components were just that much better than the coaxs. He went the cheaper route bc nobody really rode in the back seat but soon regretted it. Ill look for the thread later. It was in this sub forum earlier this year.

Damn, he didn't finish just yet. Not sure if he did the back yet. I know he said he wired everything but door panels still off and he hadn't wired the amp yet. I wonder if he'd take them out and just throw in the components...

Vast majority of people go with coax in the rear.

Stay with coaxials in the rear. The only difference in components and coaxials of the same speaker line is separate tweeters. Separate tweeters are only important for mounting them in a more optimum spot like the sail panels instead of in the door where theyre firing into your leg. You honestly dont need rear speakers at all anyway and maybe moving the back seat tweeters to a better spot wont do anything except for back seat passengers and that aint worth the extra cost and extra pain in the ***** to find a spot to mount the crossover. Stick with the coaxials.

And generally Ive always been of the opinion that when my passengers start helping my pay for my car audio stuff, then Ill worry about how good it sounds from the back seat.

lol, there's an idea somewhere in there!

I went with coaxial in the rear. The way I saw it they are more for fill than anything else.

So what do you think of the sound? Get it finished last night? I didn't see where you were starting from - base system, Sony, etc. I assume a more base system. I've got a SCREW with Sony system and the aftermarket Kicker sub added. It sounds OK, but could use some help. I've seen others in this situation upgrade the door speakers to Infinities, some use Kappa's some go one step down and they talk about the improved sound.

With the new amps and speakers you've got, you'll sound better than anything stock for sure. Let us know how you like it.
