Default My new plans for my audio system in 2009 f150...

I have a 2009 supercab f150 and i've been really confused as to what I want to do, but i finally decided i want my truck to look as stock as possible without making it sound that way.

1. So first i've replaced all 4 door seakers with pioneer ts-d6802r's.

2. Currently I am waiting on a single 12" subwoofer box from supercrewsound to fit under my backseat, and a pioneer ts-sw301 12" subwoofer. I'm also awaiting the pioneer gm-d7400m to power it. And a somewhat okay line output converter for now, as i'll replace it later.

3. Later on down the road, when i get more money(ha), I want to buy a 4 channel amp, probably the pioneer gm-d9500F, and a mtx re-q5 to use as a loc/bass booster to fix the eq curve of the stock radio. I'll use the four channel amp to run the speakers in my doors, just in case you were wondering. ha

Any comments or suggestions would be cool. Any people use the mtx re-q5 before? I was looking at the rockford fosgate 3sixty.1/2 but they look SUPER confusing. And i've heard bad things about the jl audio cleansweep, so the mtx thing looked really appealing.

If money isn't an object, look at the JBL MS6, or the Audison Bit 1. Seems as if you've already bought the front speakers, but in case you haven't, I'd advise you to consider going with component speakers in the front, not coax's. The rears are fine with the coax's, but I'd much prefer to have components in the front's. Pioneer has some nice highly rated component sets. Look at these.

Or if you want something really good.

Then add a nice amp later.

I installed a MTX RE-Q5 in a friends car recently, and have had some issuses with it. It drives a 4-channel and one mono sub amp. Recently one of the speakers cuts out randomly or sounds incredibly distorted and then it will go away for a bit. Driving me nuts right now...

I second the components for the front though.

yeah thats probably what i should have done, but i already bought the speakers for the front. i'm not looking at anything too crazy expensive, i just wanted something more than the stock audio.

and thats sad to hear about the mtx re-q because i was kinda set on getting it. do you guys thing it would be okay just to use loc's to deliver the music through the amps?

Thats just one MTX RE-Q5. It might work for you, who knows? I would suggest at least something to clean up the signal instead of just straight LOC.

Look into the Maxxsonics MX-1, it is a better quality converter that still doesn't need a computer to program it and cheaper than the RE-Q unit. I've personal bad experience with the RE-Q. Installing the MX-1 from others advice and will see how it works out in a few weeks.

Look into vibration damping and sound deadening for the future. That is the first thing I did to my front doors and back wall. Made my stock speakers go from muddy to sounding great. I would make that a requirement for any decent upgrade.

Here's a good video on youtube where they show how to tune the device. It looks pretty solid. VIDEO

Thanks for the input, i might have to go this route as well. Tell me how it sounds.

I just finished my install today - I'm floored at how well it sounds. Absolutely 0 hiss or noise at 0 volume - I'm stoked. At about 1/3 volume was max for my stock setup. Glad I'm keeping this truck for awhile, I have way too many hours into it to do it again.
