Default mp3 dash connection not working..??

I posted under a different topic but had hoped to get more response on this issue, hopefully its an easy fix.

when i connect a device through my 3.5mm connection i get sound on the right side only and the volume is very slight. I tried several devices and cables.

I pulled the head unit out and looked for loose connections, nothing is evident. as i was testing it with the unit out the male plug in grounded to the head unit chassis and the volume increased to a quality level, but still only on the right side..

any advice here??

thanks much.

would it be possible to get a new jack and splice into existing wiring without issue? i know these can be sensitive to wire...

how would i confirm that its the jack and not the head unit?
