then you use 1 for just 1 rca output, then plug that into the amp, there are different loc's, singles, duals etc. you need a single and tap into the speaker wires for it, they are super easy to install

So, do you install the LOC back by the amp and just run the wires from the speakers factory wiring to the LOC and then the LOC to the amp via RCA's and then speaker wires from the amp to the sub? Does it really make so much more of a difference compared to just running the factory speaker wire to the sub and then back to the sub itself?

dont ever power a sub with factory speaker power, that will blow it in about 10 mins if your lucky, the loc dosnt matter where you put it, if you like just tap into the speaker's wire in the rear doors...location dosnt matter one bit

Man, I wish I could look at a diagram of how these darn things go in. Even after talking to the folks at Crutchfield and asking these questions here, I still cant visualize how this all goes together. I have even searched to the end of the internet, and although theres lots of info out there about LOC's , I have yet to find a clear visual description or diagram of how the darn thing fits into the quation.

ill try to type it out best way i know how, a loc has 2 ends

depending on the quality one end will always have at least 1 set of rca output, 1 plug that is red, 1 plug that is white, just like your tv

on the other end you have at least, 2+ 2-, one + and - is for a left speaker, on + one - is for a right speaker.

on some models in the middle is a black wire, that is a ground

on some models there is a red wire in the middle, that is a constant power

in order to hook up the speaker wire portion all you do is A) Run an additional wire off one of your speakers anywhere in the vehicle, front/back/left/right dosnt matter, just remeber which side of the vehicle its on and plug it into the corresponding connection location on the LOC

Okay , when you say run a wire from the speaker to the LOC, am I not running two wires? Or am I just tapping into one?

This is the one I was looking at.

ok that one has a ground which is that black wire

when i say speaker wire i mean two, speaker wires have 2 sides, a positive and a negative, attatch it to the positive end of your speaker, and the negative end of your speaker after its hooked up into its factory location

Okay , so by using the LOC , I am essentially tieing into one speaker via both wires running from the factory radio end into the LOC, and then another speaker wire (plural ....grin) back to the speaker itself from the LOC. Then the RCA's or Patch cords go into my Amp. I then simply run an output wire to the sub and voulah?

no, the factory wires go to the speaker replacements you are putting in, then you add a additional wire to one right side speaker and into the right side of the loc, and a additional speaker wire to one left side speaker into the left side of the loc, all the speaker wire does is take a high level input signal via speaker wire and put out a better low level rca output, and yes rca's from loc to amp, then speaker wire from amp to sub

Aaah, okay, so I am merely tapping into the the speaker wire circuit to send the signal to the amp. One speaker wire (L and R) is all that is needed?
