Default Larger Speakers than Stock

I have a 2003 Ext Cab. I know it says the speakers to put in it are 8x6 i think it is... but I want to know if it's possible once i open it up to put in 6.5" round speakers...

Is there anything I need to be worried about before doing this? i picture myself using self tapping metal screws or something but the only reason I'm doing this is because I have 6.5" speakers already sitting around...

Any suggestions?

Make sure you have sufficient depth, but other than that you should be okay. You may want to make an adapter out of 1/2" MDF.

Guys do it in the front doors of the 04-08s all the time, I'd assume it works in your body style as well.

make a template off the stock speaker to fit the 6.5's, if you have a jigsaw you can do it
