Ok, to me it wouldn't be that hard to change that bracket enough to get past it. I have done several dd installs where I had to modify the opening some. I have a friend who installed a dd in a '98 F150 but I don't remember what he did about the bracket. I would think you could somehow use the parts from a '99 up to remedy the problem but I could be wrong. I would do it but I'm a little crazy anyway!

Im not saying its imposiable, Im just saying that you are not going to be able to go out and just buy the parts to get it to mount.

i literally cut one of those out of an f150 today at work. it does absolutely nothing to the dash. get the D3. it is awesome. all i can say. you can change everything about the audio on that radio (im a huge audio person lol). the screen is also awesome with great looking colors. the buttons can be changed colors (another cool feature). you can do sirius or XM radio, cd, iPod, bluetooth, it comes with navigation... the list goes on. i don't remember if there's a double DIN kit you that truck but you can check on crutchfield.com pretty easily.

I was thinking about getting the Pioneer, but the only thing that stopped me is the DVD navigation, that's why I went witht the Kenwood.

what you guys think of this:

do you think I would still need to do some wiring even if I get that???

those plugs are really cool one of them goes to a universal plug and the other goes to the radio specific plug. if you have both of them then there shouldn't be any extra wiring but if you only have one then you would have to splice them all together

I like the picture quality of the Kenwood over the Pioneer. I also like the Garmin software kenwood uses for their navigation. The pioneer does have a rebate going on now making it cheaper and it does have three sets of preouts compared to Kenwood only having two.

pioneer is about $200 cheaper than the kenwood on ebay. By the way, is there a way to bypass the safety features on the kenwood like we would ground the parking wire on the pioneer?
