if your going to be installing an amp to drive your new speakers, check into the audiocontrol lc6i. It smooths out the preamp signals to and delivers a flat signal to your aftermarket amp. This means when you turn up your volume the sound wont distort! CHECK IT OUT, DEF WORTH THE MONEY!

There is a difference between the zisl and a line output converter. If you just want to stick some rcas on the end of your speaker wire, you could just pick up some male RCA ends for 50 cents at radio shack.

The point of RCA cables is shielding the low level signal from magnetic interference, you're not as susceptible to that interference at high/speaker levels, which is why speaker wire isn't shielded.

While you may be able to get away with using the high level signal from the stock deck in some amps with the gain cranked down, you'll be limiting you amp tuning and increasing distortion if you don't step it down with an LOC or using an amp designed to accept the higher signal.

The cleansweep is a different story because it's meant to accept high level input. In that case adding an LOC would introduce noise unnecessarily since the cleansweep already performs the function of the LOC.
