Default Just bought a P2D2-12, what amp?

Got a hell of a deal on a new P2D2-12 Rockford sub and Im looking for a compatible amp thats not more than I need. It will only be powering the sub as I will leave the stock Sony stuff alone, just looking to replace the factory sub. Which rockford amp should I be looking at thats not too much for this sub and not too small?

I am a newb when it comes to amps and sub wiring. Since the sub I got is a 2ohm, according to this diagram, will a 1ohm amp work if I wired it as this diagram shows?
TIA

Yes, you will need an amp that is 1 ohm stable and wire the sub in parallel like in the diagram

power handling (rms) on the sub would be helpful to match an amp

400rms on that sub, 800 max. Looking at a punch 500w mono amp (1ohm)

P500X1bd is the PN for the Rockford amp. Should I go with a bigger amp?

Ok thanks. Next question, Im pretty good when it comes to installing parts and doing wiring, how would I go about wiring this in if I removed the factory sub and amp? Does the factory amp power the mids/highs also? or just the sub itself?
