JL Sub Choice
New to the forum, so I'd like to say hello to all!
I listen to mostly all rock music, from the late 60s to the current. I listen to everything from Black Sabbath & Led Zeppelin to Green Day & Nickelback. I have my mind set on the JL Audio 10W3v3 sub, but for the genre of music I listen to, would I be better off with the 2 ohm or 4 ohm sub? I'm hoping to get a fox box, since this is the only enclosure that this sub seems to fit in for my 2006 SCrew.
Any and all opinions are welcome.
Thanks in advance!

Ohm load doesn't necessarily make a different sound, ohm loads are resistance. Ohms are mainly used for different wiring applications. either 2 or 4 ohm will work fine, it just depends on what your specs are on your amp. most amps will put out more wattage for lower ohm loads, 2 ohms is the lowest you want to go. anyway, 2 ohms may be louder, but no difference in pitch.
Good choice on the sub though, very nice.

My amp is rated as follows:
240 Watts RMS x 1 Channel @ 4 Ohms
350 Watts RMS x 1 Channel @ 2 Ohms
I've read that wiring a 4 ohm load will be easier on the amp. If that's the case, maybe I should go with the 4 ohm sub???
Too many variables for me... I can't wait until I get this done.
One thing for sure... This forum sure does end up costing you a lot of money!!!

I just got a JL Audo 10w3. Just hooked it up about two weeks ago and it sounds good. I have a fox box and it fits well. I recommend getting a 2ohm sub just because you already have an amp and the sub needs a little more power than what your 4 ohm load would give. It would work but your better off with a 2. A 4 ohm might be easier on an amp but just remember your amp is also rated a 2ohm so it is built for a 2ohm load as well and your not pushing 1000 watts either. Just my thoughts

Amp should run fine at 2 ohms if it gives you specs for 2ohm... no lower though.
