Default JL Audio XD400 or XD500?

So I am building my regular cab stereo. Originally the shop I deal with spec'd the XD500 3 channel. Two channels for the front and a single channel for the sub. I paid for everything in advance and went to pick up the gear and they subbed a XD400 which is 4 channel. They said I just bridge the two rear channels and voila its a 3 channel.

But here is where I am confused. On paper they are exactly the same watt for watt and rms to my untrained eye, except the XD500 costs more.

My system consists of two 6x9 4ohm for the front and a single 8" 4ohm subwoofer.

Is one amp better than the other or am I having buyers remorse because I didn't get exactly what I wanted?

Spec wise they are the same. 4 channel gives you bit more flexibility later on to may be add a rear channel and get a mono block for the sub or run the front channels active.

I kinda figured that as well. I also heard back from JL saying the 500 runs cooler.
