Well as it turns out I do need another set...the tinsel leads separated from the cone on my second set already, trying to get this set warrantied and exchange them for 1 X-12, going to build a box to fit behind the center console and also go partially under the seat. I'm definitely not buyin a third set of 8s. Neither me or my installer have a clue why this happened again.

Maybe the box isn't tuned right. I don't have a problem with any of mine at all. It's got to be something you're doing. If you have a factory deck, they clip pretty bad. Maybe your amp/amps are adjusted right, (with a smd dd-1) and are clipping as well. Lots of factors fall into place.

Another sub won't do any good until you pin the problem at hand.
I'm getting an saz 3500 today. I'll have to keep the gain low until I get a dd1 to adjust it.

A x12 would be awesome in a center console though.

Well I guess there's no way for me to know that, all I know is he told me it's tuned to 34. They don't seem to be unloading. I Ditched the stock deck for a dnx890hd a few months ago and got a d6500 under the hood. Volt meter stays at or above 14v even at full tilt. Subs or amp don't get hot. An smd dd1 is a great idea though I've never looked into those.

Finally pulled them out and it's not the leads at all. Sounds like coil rub to me, I'm taking them in tomorrow to get a second opinion

Push the cone in and out. You should be able to hear the coil rub if that's the issue. But this would be your second time with this issue. So it's got to be the way the gain is set up or the adjustment of a remote bass ****. What amp do you have.

Smd, I believe there's a guy that rents the equipment out on caraudioclassifieds.com. I didn't use smd on mine, I used a dmm.
