I just put three way kickers in my front and left the rear speaker alone you'll never hear the rear speakers if you get a good set of fronts. The install was very easy by the way there is a great video on youtube on how to remove the door panels.

I got the cheapo system, did you just swap out the speakers for now? Did you add an amp, etc.? Thanks!

I have 6.5 Polk MM components in the front, and Pioneer 6x8 3 ways in the back. Giving them both about 60 watts. I hate to say this since I spent a pretty penny on the components, but to be completely honest, I kinda wish I'd gone with a 'top of the line set' of Pioneer 3 ways in the front.
I've had quite a few sound systems and I really miss my Pioneer Premier 3 ways with some power feeding them. It just seems like they had a more balanced sound.
My ground shaking bass days are gone so I'm not sure I wanna give up the space-functionality for a sub, but no matter what you go with I strongly recommend getting something with the intent of adding a decent amplifier.
