Installing Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD - Questions
I am going to be installing this unit over the weekend. I took apart the factory head unit and dash this evening just to see what was going on back there and I need some imput.
I will be installing the head unit, Sirius tuner and steering wheel controls. Here is a list of what I have purchased:
Head Unit AVH-P4100DVD
Sirius Direct: SIRIUS Pioneer Package Item #700SIRPIOR
Steering Wheel Controls:Model: SWI-PS http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogram...rogramming.asp
And my iPod but just using USB becuase video is not needed
Did I buy the right steering wheel adapter? I thought it would be easier?
For Sirius I am going to be using the factory antena but when I oulled the dash off tonight I noticed this sliver box, I am guesing it is the Sirius tuner that came factory? Do I need the direct connect kit still?
Here is a picture:
Additionally, there are a lot of splices behind the factory unit, I am guesing the previous owner had an after market in there before and didn't une the harness:
I am going to do the relay I think to bypass, might do a switch, not sure yet
Anything else I should know??

I was also think that I can open up some space by removing that silver sirius tuner when I instlal the after market HU to create some room for wires and such

Yes, you are still going to need the direct connect kit for pioneer, it is not compatible with what you need.
There is a good chance the Sat Radio antenna will work but you can compare that pretty quickly. Also note that the length of the SatRadio antenna is fixed so don't try and change it.
You do have the correct Steering Wheel Interface for your Vehicle and Radio. From what I remember it is only 3 wires and programmable. So not to difficult.

I guess for space sake I can remove the other factory sirius unit for now as well, since I will not be using it.
The steering wheel harness has a TON of wires. Where do the controls come out behind the dash?

Here you go, detailed install instructions.

It has a picture of the harness that you are going to splice into.
And yeah, you can pull the factory sirius out, hang onto it though incase you decide to sell your truck one day.
