Infinity Speaker dead, blame it on the stock HU?
So i replaced all my speakers in the doors with infinity references 8602's a couple of months back and yesterday the front left speaker died. I called crutchfield and they blamed it on the stock HU not giving enough power to the speaker... which i guess is worse than overpowering it.
They send me a new one for free regardless, i'll just have to take apart my door again today. Also ordered the alpine KTP and i'll have my closest shop install it for me, so hopefully this won't happen again. By the way repping crutchfield for they awesome customer service.

This not the first time I heard that on this forum about infinity speakers. Not saying it happens often but it does happen. You sure the wire connections just didn't come loose?

Whoever you talked to at Crutchfield fed you a line of BS. It is impossible to damage a speaker from "too little" power. The only ways to damage a speaker are by exceeding its thermal limits (too much power for the voicecoil to handle) or its mechanical limits (too much power for the suspension to handle). If too little power could damage a speaker, you'd blow them up every time you turn down the volume.
